Reverse 2: In 1949 the reverse was redesigned to read GVIR (Georgius VI Rex) after the title Emperor of India had been relinquished

In 1947 the metal of the Sixpence was changed to cupronickel to allow Britain to repay Silver borrowed from the United States for the war effort.
